HOW TO USE THE PLANNER

Andy Lewis

CEO & Founder of Norse Fitness

Do You Feel Stuck And Not Making Progress Towards Your Goals?

I feel your frustration and have been there before...

The year was 2016 and I had just bit the bullet and went self-employed.

I was a single dad and just took the biggest gamble of my life.

I quit my job and put everything into growing Norse Fitness.

To say that I was terrified would be an understatement.

Not only did I need to make this work for myself...

But I had a new-born baby girl that was depending on my success.

Failure was not an option.

People thought that I was crazy for taking such a risk with so much to lose.

But I was compelled by an overwhelming desire to make an impact on this world.

I knew that in order to survive and grow, I needed to press the pedal to the floor and put in the work.

But I quickly realized that juggling my growing list of tasks was not something that I could manage in my head.

I needed something that would help keep me on track.

So I invested what little money I had in different planners that would help me organize my day for maximum productivity.

What I quickly realized was that every option on the market was overly complicated.

I Tried Countless Options and Wasted

Hundreds of Dollars

I was so desperate to find the best planner that would help me get the most done but nothing seemed to be effective.

What I needed was a simple and effective time journal to help me break up different parts of my day.

But what I received was complex journals that wanted me to fill out a hundred different things.

I bought the planner to help me save time and yet I was expected to spend 15-20 minutes every day filling the damn thing out?

Eventually I gave up and broke out the trusty notebook.

Each day I would fill out a piece of paper and break my day up into 3 hour blocks.

This took a lot of time...

But it was still more effective than the options that I was finding on Amazon.

As much as I hated spending precious minutes drawing this up every day...

It allowed me to fine tune my daily routine and develop a Plan of Attack.

The Plan of Attack Was Designed To Help You Conquer the Day

When organizing my schedule I realized that I needed to break it up into smaller chunks of time.

This helped me avoid being overwhelmed and attack these blocks with full intensity.

I tried different variations until I finally discovered that dividing my day into 3 hour blocks was the most effective.

After months of struggling, I felt like I was actually catching momentum and making progress each day.

But it still wasn't enough...

When I woke up I was spending 30 minutes trying to put it all together and my mind was drawing blanks on what all needed to be done.

So I tried something different and started filling out my Plan of Attack at the end of the day before I went to bed.

Before I went to bed I would do a giant brain dump and get out everything that needed to be accomplished when I woke up.

This was a game-changer!

Filling out my Plan of Attack the night before allowed me to wake up and get to work.

Instead of mindlessly trying to figure out what needed to be done...

I would jump out of bed with excitement to tackle the day.

If planning out my day helped me stay on track...

I wondered what would happen if I wrote out my goals every day.

This is The Benefit of Writing Your Goals 2x Every Day

Like I said above...

I was a single dad that was trying to grow a new business.

On top of that I was trying to stay active and healthy.

So I begin writing out my goals every morning to guide my ship during the day.

Doing this helped me stay focused on what I needed to accomplish.

The issue I had in the past with setting goals is that I would maybe write it down once a year and then over time I forgot about it.

Doing it every morning was a constant reminder of the life I wanted and I was able to use that as motivation to keep pushing forward.

And since planning out my day the night before proved to be so beneficial...

I decided to start writing down my goals every night as well.

This is when my life really started to change.

I was now writing out my goals 730x a year!

There was no way that I was not going to accomplish my biggest dreams now.

Except I discovered a problem...

I was so busy crushing my day that I begin losing sight of all the great things I already had in my life.

As a result I started getting depressed and unappreciative.

Until I Discovered the Power of Gratitude

I'll be honest...

I never really gave the idea of gratitude much thought.

It sounded like some hippy shit that wouldn't benefit me.

Over time my depression was getting worse and I was looking for something that would alleviate it.

A friend asked if I kept a gratitude journal.

When he asked the question I had to stop myself from laughing.

But I was desperate and decided to give it a shot.

I got on Amazon and bought the journal that he recommended.

And I quickly ran into the same problem that I had with the planner...

This journal had all these different parts that it wanted me to fill out every day.

I got frustrated and threw it in the trash after about a week.

There was no point in this being an overly complicated process.

So I started writing out 5 things that I was grateful for every morning after I wrote down my goals.

And to my surprise, this actually helped bring me some relief.

I caught myself smiling when I was thinking of new things every day.

After a year of combining everything together I was making some serious progress.

But I begin beating myself up for not accomplishing every single thing on my daily Plan of Attack.

So I took an extra second every morning to choose 5 things that HAD to get done.

Having A Top 5 Priorities List Will Allow You to Win The Day

It's easy to slam your day with a bunch of different tasks.

On top of that you have other people demanding time from you.

And it's unrealistic to think that unexpected things won't come up that will take up time.

That's why deciding what your Top 5 priorities are is so powerful.

If you complete your Top 5 then you've essentially won the day and can sleep peacefully knowing that it was a successful day.

I felt on top of the world once I implemented all of these things!

The only issue was that I was not taking anytime to acknowledge my accomplishments.

I was so focused on the future that I didn't really see the progress that I was making.

Acknowledging Victories Was The Biggest Motivator

At the end of every day, I would take a step back and reflect on everything I had accomplished.

And to my surprise, this motivated me to keep building momentum the next day.

Over time, I became obsessed with stacking victories.

Writing down everything that I had knocked out became my favorite part of the day.

It helped me realize that I was crushing it and it gave me a sense of power to keep moving forward.

It Took Me 6 Years To Put Together All the Pieces for the Norse Planner

As you now see, the Norse Planner wasn't created over night.

It's a combination of the most powerful tools that I have discovered through trial and error over the past 6 years.

Luckily, it won't take you that long to start dominating your day.

Everything is condensed into an easy to follow method that will only take you a few minutes to complete each day.

I encourage you to split this into 2 different parts.

Nighttime Routine:

  • Develop your Plan of Attack for the following day
  • Reflect on your victories
  • Write down your goals

Morning Routine:

  • Write down your goals
  • Find 4 things that you are grateful for
  • Choose your top 5 objectives for the day

The hardest part will be making a habit of filling it out every day without fail.

If you stick to it, you'll quickly realize how valuable it is and it will be part of your routine.

This one thing has allowed me to scale multiple businesses, make time for my kid, and still be able to focus on self-improvement.

It helped me create the life of dreams and I know it will do the same for you.
